The Chiefs Esports Club have been crowned champions of AOC CyberGamer Premier League 2018 Winter Finals after a clean sweep against Legacy Esports.
Following the completion of the online league, four teams advanced to the LAN finals, which took place this weekend on July 21-22. The Australian event was held at AVCon (Adelaide's Anime & Video Games Festival) instead of the organizer's home studio this time around.
Grayhound, currently ranked 38th in the world, decided to pull out of the event due to undisclosed reasons, despite heading into the tournament as the first seed. Former comrade Mohammed "MoeycQ" Tizani's AVANT attended the event as their replacement.
Defending champions Chiefs kicked off the event by easing past AVANT and Legacy OCE in the upper bracket and secured a 1-0 advantage in the best-of-five grand final. Meanwhile, Montheara "prakM" Prak's SYF were eliminated early after suffering losses to Legacy OCE and AVANT, respectively.
In the consolidation final, Euan "sterling" Moore's side crushed AVANT in two maps with single-digit scorelines. However, Legacy OCE's grind to the top came to a stop when Tyler "tucks" Reilly's crew confidently closed the grand final rematch, 3-0.
